Threads and Instagram get generative AR stickers and commerce hooks

Creators can now generate short-lifetime AR stickers inside Spark AR Studio or directly in-app, using lightweight generative models to craft stylized overlays and animations that reflect a creator’s brand. Commerce hooks enable creators to tag products and attach buy links to sticker previews, making it easier to convert engagement into purchases.
Meta included moderation filters and a visible badge when an asset is AI-generated, as part of its effort to increase transparency. Generated assets are cached for reuse and expire after a configurable window to encourage freshness and limit mass replication.
Brands are testing short-form shopping campaigns using generative stickers, noting higher click-through rates when stickers are personalized. Privacy and IP concerns remain in play, and Meta says they will extend policies and reporting tools as adoption grows.
