TransitLayer unveils programmable city API after $25M round

TransitLayer's new platform exposes unified endpoints for multimodal transit, parking inventory, micro-mobility, and curb access. The $25 million funding round, led by UrbanScale Ventures, will go toward expanding data partnerships with municipal agencies and building governance tools for cities to control access.

The API allows mobility operators and logistics companies to query real-time curb availability, reserve loading zones, and bid for dynamic time slots. TransitLayer also offers sandboxed simulation tools so cities can model effects of pricing and lane reallocation before changing policy.

TransitLayer is piloting the service in three mid-sized cities with delivery and public transit partners. The company highlights privacy-by-design and per-tenant encryption to meet municipal procurement requirements and plans to launch a hosted control panel for city planners later this year.
