Triton Games raises $60M and launches 'Depth Engine', a ray-tracing focused middleware
Gaming · 5 min read
Triton Games, known for middleware tools, announced a $60 million round and released Depth Engine, a middleware package that simplifies real-time ray-traced lighting, global illumination, and material authoring. The engine integrates with major game engines and provides artist-friendly tools for baking and dynamic lighting adjustments.
Depth Engine aims to reduce iteration friction for lighting artists by providing fast previews, adaptive sampling, and a pipeline that links asset authoring to runtime performance budgets. Triton also introduced collaboration features like versioned lighting snapshots and cloud-based bake farms.
For game designers and technical artists, Depth Engine promises to shorten the time between artistic intent and playable builds. Triton plans to offer training programs and a community asset repository to help teams adopt the middleware quickly.
