Typeface Labs launches variable-font marketplace with creator royalties

Typeface Labs announced a marketplace where designers can sell variable fonts with granular license terms and automated royalty payouts. The platform supports fine-grained controls for embedding, webfonts, and app bundling, plus a preview engine that demonstrates font behavior across axes.

To address attribution and revenue fairness, Typeface Labs built a smart-contract–backed payments ledger that automates royalties when fonts are used in commercial products. Designers set tiers and the marketplace validates usage through fingerprinting and optional telemetry.

The launch includes integrations with popular prototyping tools so product teams can test variable fonts directly inside their UI mockups. Typeface Labs plans to add collaboration features allowing design agencies to manage multi-license packs for client projects.
