TypeLab Ships VariableExpress: Real-Time UI Tooling for Variable Fonts

VariableExpress analyzes axes usage, glyph interpolation overhead, and rendering costs across browsers and OS renderers. The tool generates subsets, axis baking profiles, and optimized variable font instances tuned for specific breakpoints and device capabilities, reducing render jank and bundle sizes.

TypeLab is also releasing a Figma plugin and CLI integration for build pipelines so design tokens can automatically produce the optimal font artifacts. The offering includes a dashboard to monitor real-world font usage and fallback events across user sessions.
