TypeSketch 1.5 Adds Generative Layout Suggestions and Variable Font Tuners
Design · 3 min read
TypeSketch's 1.5 update integrates a generative layout assistant that proposes grid variants and type scales based on pasted copy and target breakpoints. Designers can accept a suggestion, tweak spacing and alignment, and apply changes across artboards in a single command.
A new variable font tuner exposes axes like optical size, weight, and italic skew in a compact UI, plus smart presets that suggest values for readability at different sizes. The tuning panel also includes a contrast preview tool that flags poor legibility in low-light or small-size contexts.
Under the hood, TypeSketch uses a lightweight on-device transformer to propose layouts, keeping private copy local. The company says the change is meant to speed early-stage mockups while preserving designers' custom systems and tokens.
