TypoLab raises $10M to launch Flowtype, an AI-driven typeface generator for brands

Flowtype uses a combination of parametric font generation and learned stylistic priors to produce typefaces optimized for screen and print. Brands can supply mood boards, usage contexts, and legibility targets, and Flowtype outputs variable fonts with hinting, kerning, and language support.
TypoLab raised $10 million in seed funding from Typeface Partners and a consortium of creative industry angels. The capital will go toward expanding language coverage, improving kerning engines, and building integrations with design tools and CMS platforms.
Flowtype offers iterative review flows where designers can tweak stems, contrast, and terminal treatments before exporting production-ready web fonts and OTF packages. The company is positioning Flowtype as a faster, more affordable alternative to traditional custom type commissions.
