TypoTune raises $9M to launch AI-driven typography toolkit for designers

TypoTune raised $9 million in seed funding led by Notation Capital with participation from several typography-focused angels and design firms. The startup builds AI features that help designers pick type hierarchies, tune kerning, and generate responsive variable font axes.

The product launch includes an in-browser toolkit and a plugin for major design apps that produces accessible, brand-aligned type systems with automatic fallback rules. TypoTune's AI uses learned rules from typographic experts plus a ruleset ensuring WCAG-friendly contrast and legibility.

TypoTune also introduced a licensing model for foundries and a marketplace for licensed variable fonts optimized for web and native performance. The company said funds will be used to expand its font library and invest in typographic research.
