Uber Safety Toolkit Redesign: Microcopy, Flow, and Trust Signals

The updated safety toolkit adds in-ride 'share ETA' enhancements, an emergency quick dial with two-step confirmation, and a persistent safety card in the trip UI. Microcopy has been rewritten to be action-oriented with clear next steps, and the trust signals (badges, verified status) are more prominent.

We map the rider and driver flows and find that friction was intentionally introduced in critical actions to prevent accidental triggers, balanced by faster recovery flows. Contextual help appears proactively when unusual route deviations are detected, which reduces reactive panic.

Design recommendations emphasize predictability: clearly visible fallback options, a less intrusive history of safety events, and post-incident feedback loops that close the experience for both parties. The redesign highlights how small language and layout decisions materially affect perceived safety.
