Unity adds generative asset pipeline and live LLM-driven NPC workflow

Unity’s generative asset pipeline integrates directly with artists’ folders and can produce placeholder art, textures and animations based on textual prompts or style references. Assets are versioned and can be promoted to production once approved.

The LLM-driven NPC workflow offers authors a conversational playground where writers can craft character personalities and have the model generate dialog trees and behavior scripts compatible with Unity’s state machines. Unity also included a runtime component for live tuning of NPC responses during playtesting.

Unity emphasized performance controls and safety: generated dialog can be filtered through company-defined content policies and the pipeline supports local inference options for studios that cannot use cloud services. The features will roll out in the next Unity LTS and are available to all paid subscriptions.
