Unity integrates AdaPainter: generative texture tool powered by NVIDIA NeMo
Gaming · 5 min read
AdaPainter integrates into Unity’s material workflow, letting developers generate and refine textures and decals without leaving the Editor. It supports prompt-based generation plus style sliders for grain, wear, and pattern density, and outputs seamless maps with roughness and normal channels.
The underlying NeMo-based backend enables artists to apply targeted edits to specific UV islands and perform in-context blending with nearby assets. Unity is pitching AdaPainter as a time-saver for level designers and small studios that lack dedicated texture artists.
The integration also includes a lightweight node for Shader Graph that maps generated channels into physically-based materials. Unity says the tool will be available as part of its Asset Pipeline updates for registered developers and that they’re releasing example scenes to illustrate best practices.
