Unity Marketplace adds 'AI Asset Shop' powered by Stability AI's StableDesign

Unity announced a new in-editor 'AI Asset Shop' that hooks into Stability AI's StableDesign backend to let developers generate textures, concept sprites, and placeholder 3D models without leaving the Editor. Generated assets can be exported as PNGs, PBR textures, or low-poly FBX placeholders ready for iteration.
The integration includes pipeline-aware presets—game-dev-focused prompts that respect texture resolution targets, tiling parameters, and performance budgets. Unity claims the workflow speeds prototyping and helps smaller teams create art faster while preserving technical constraints.
Stability AI and Unity highlighted governance features: asset provenance metadata is attached to generated files, and a license selector filters prompts to surface only assets cleared for commercial use. Early testers appreciated the rapid iteration but cautioned that final-quality production assets still required artist refinement.
