Unity reveals PlayCanvasGPT: an assistant for NPC dialogue and procedural level ideas

PlayCanvasGPT tailors its outputs to game design constraints like branching dialogue, tone consistency, and quest pacing. Unity says the model includes a controllable persona layer so writers can maintain character voice while scaling content across hundreds of NPCs.

For level design, the model suggests scaffolded geometry and encounter pacing that can be exported into the Editor as editable prefabs. Unity emphasized that PlayCanvasGPT is intended to accelerate ideation rather than replace designers, providing seed content that designers iterate on.

Privacy and moderation features are built-in: teams can run models on-premise, and Unity provides content filters and validation hooks to catch problematic outputs before they reach players. Early access is being offered to select studios and indie developers through a plugin program.
