Unity unveils ArtGen: paired models for concept art and 3D asset conversion

ArtGen's concept model generates multiple stylistic directions from text prompts and reference palettes. Designers can mark the strongest concepts, which feed into a second model that creates retopo-ready meshes, UV maps and baked texture sets compatible with Unity import standards.

The pipeline includes QA checks for rigging compatibility and LOD suggestions, and exports assets with metadata describing intended use, polycount range, and shader hints. Unity says ArtGen is optimized for quick prototyping rather than final AAA production, though it can be a starting point for artist polish.

Studio feedback emphasized faster vertical slices during pre-production, with concept-to-prototype passes dropping from weeks to days. Unity plans a closed beta for larger studios and an indie-friendly tier with token-limited usage.
