UX Salaries See First Real Uptick Since 2023: Report Reveals 7–12% Growth
Design · 4 min read
After several hiring slowdowns and flat salary years from 2023–2025, Q2 2026 compensation data from a consortium of staffing firms shows base salaries for product and UX designers rose between 7% and 12% year-over-year in the U.S. and Europe. The increases are concentrated at the mid-senior level where companies are rebuilding product roadmaps and investing in retention.
Sources point to two main forces: a renewed product focus as firms try to extract more value from existing customer bases, and the rising cost of living pressures that compelled many employers to adjust bands. Companies with mature design practices and measurement frameworks reported the largest increases.
Design leaders say the uptick is not uniform: startups that missed product-market fit or rely heavily on contractor pools are slower to raise salaries. The report recommends candidates highlight measurable outcomes, cross-functional impact, and product metrics when negotiating to capture the market movement.
