VectorVault launched Proteus, a platform designed to host language models with stringent security controls required by regulated industries. Proteus offers encrypted vector stores, hardware-backed key management, role-based access, and immutable audit trails linking prompts to outputs for compliance and forensic needs.
The $50 million round was led by Insight Partners, with participation from sector-specific VCs focused on healthcare and fintech. VectorVault said funds will be used to add certified on-premises appliances, more granular data residency features, and integrations with legacy identity systems commonly found in regulated enterprises.
Proteus includes built-in guardrails for sensitive data handling and supports custom alignment policies so organizations can fine-tune model behavior while preserving auditability. Pilot customers in clinical decision support and regulatory reporting praised the platform for reducing risk while allowing innovation with foundation models.
