VectorVR aims to compete in the premium standalone VR market by emphasizing ergonomic design and modular input. The headset uses a custom SoC for battery efficiency, a 2.5K per-eye display at 120Hz, and an aluminum unibody shell that Velvet calls 'industrial but minimal'.
The $45 million Series B was led by Accel with participation from Sony Ventures and existing backers. Velvet plans to use the capital to finalize tooling in Vietnam, expand its San Francisco studio for first-party titles, and subsidize developer kits for indie studios.
First-party content focuses on social VR, fitness, and 'spatial productivity' apps. Starting next month, Velvet will ship an early adopter edition to developers and selected creators ahead of a wider consumer launch in November 2026.
