Verdant AI closed a $45 million Series B to scale its AI-driven materials discovery platform focused on sustainable alternatives to plastics and chemical-heavy coatings. The company launched Materializer, which generates candidate formulations, simulates performance metrics, and estimates lifecycle impact.

Materializer links to lab automation systems for closed-loop experimentation and provides a green-score system that weighs carbon footprint, recyclability, and toxicity. The product is aimed at brands and manufacturers eager to meet new regulatory standards and consumer sustainability demands.

Funding will be used to expand wet-lab automation, add regulatory compliance features, and build partnerships with material suppliers for pilot production runs. Verdant plans to offer on-premises deployments for highly regulated industries like aerospace.
