Verde Systems, a semiconductor startup focused on on-device AI, announced a $55 million Series B and introduced a compact LLM accelerator module designed to be integrated by Android OEMs. The accelerator uses a combination of matrix engines and sparse compute primitives to run quantized transformer models locally with competitive latency and low power draw.
Verde’s announcement includes an SDK that supports common model formats and provides runtime features such as model swapping, secure boot for models, and adaptive power management. The startup is partnering with several mid-tier OEMs for pilots intended to bring local assistant capabilities and advanced dictation features to devices later this year.
Investors cited the growing demand for privacy-preserving, low-latency AI services on mobile as a key driver for funding. Verde plans to expand its engineering teams and secure foundry agreements to meet expected ramp from multiple handset partners.
