VerdeTech launches Gaia battery modules after a $300M growth round
Tech · 5 min read
VerdeTech announced Gaia, a swappable modular battery system intended for commercial EV fleets and microgrid storage. Each Gaia module is designed for simple replacement and second-life reuse; VerdeTech pairs hardware with a lifecycle management platform that tracks state-of-health, thermal history, and recycling readiness. Gaia’s form factor aims to be interoperable with partner chassis and charging standards.
Concurrently, VerdeTech closed a $300 million growth round led by TerraFund and a consortium of strategic mobility partners. The capital will be used to expand VerdeTech's gigafactory capacity, establish recycling facilities, and certify Gaia in logistics and municipal vehicle pilots. The company wants to reduce total cost of ownership for fleet operators by enabling fast in-field swaps and predictable degradation management.
By targeting fleets where downtime is costly, VerdeTech expects faster adoption than consumer EV segments. The company highlighted pilot programs with courier fleets and regional transit authorities that report improved uptime and predictable battery replacement cycles during initial trials.
