Veridian raises $60M to commercialize tactile feedback for touchscreens

Veridian's tactile platform uses localized electrostatic modulation to create crisp, multi-finger haptic sensations without moving parts. The developer kit includes APIs for temporal patterns, texture libraries, and tools to map haptics to UI states and gestures, allowing designers to prototype tactile metaphors quickly.
The $60 million round, led by Orion Capital with contributions from chipset and OEM-focused funds, will be used to scale manufacturing partnerships and certify solutions with display suppliers. Veridian also plans to release UX guidelines and a pattern library to help designers incorporate tactile cues in a consistent and accessible way.
Designers interviewed said the controlled, high-resolution haptics could significantly improve affordances and microinteractions, especially for accessibility and low-visibility contexts like driving. Veridian's roadmap includes power-optimized drivers and developer sandbox integrations for major mobile OSes.
