VerveXR launches lightweight headset OS for mixed reality, raises $95M
Tech · 6 min read
VerveXR's new operating system focuses on modularity, low-power scheduling, and an app model that simplifies sensor access and multi-window experiences in MR headsets. The company emphasized developer tools: an emulator, streamlined input APIs, and a compatibility layer for Android and Unity-based apps to run with minimal porting.
The company also announced a $95 million Series B led by Signal Partners and Motion Ventures. Proceeds will be used to certify hardware partners, expand tooling and runtime performance tuning capabilities, and provide reference designs for OEMs looking to ship low-cost mixed reality devices.
VerveXR believes the MR market will fragment in hardware form factors and that a lightweight OS with strong developer ergonomics can accelerate an ecosystem of specialized headsets for enterprise, education, and light consumer experiences. Early hardware partners include two Asia-based startups focusing on enterprise training headsets.
