Vision Pro gets native game streaming and controller APIs in visionOS update
Gaming · 6 min read
The new visionOS release includes a system-level game streaming service that supports low-latency streaming from Macs and compatible cloud endpoints. Apple integrated adaptive rendering and foveated streaming to reduce bandwidth and preserve high frame rates on the headset.
A fresh controller SDK introduces standardized haptics, spatial mapping inputs, and shared input state across sessions, letting developers support a wider range of controllers and hand-tracking fallbacks. The SDK also exposes player-centric debugging tools to help studios optimize performance for different hardware profiles.
Apple is partnering with several game engines to supply native plugins and performance presets, while indie developers will get new onboarding resources and a simplified test harness for multiplayer sessions. The update positions Vision Pro to compete more directly in the immersive gaming market while keeping Apple’s privacy-first approach intact.
