Vision Pro update adds collaborative spatial sessions and Unity runtime support

The Vision Pro platform update introduces synchronized collaborative sessions so multiple users can join a shared spatial space with persistent state. Apple demonstrated scenarios from shared whiteboards to co-located 3D design reviews that retain annotations and object placement across sessions.

To accelerate app development, Apple added a dedicated Unity runtime that promises parity with native SceneKit and RealityKit behaviors while exposing Vision Pro interaction primitives like eye-tracking focus and hand pose APIs. Unity developers can now target Vision Pro with fewer platform-specific changes and improved input mapping.

Performance improvements were also part of the release: a graphics pipeline optimization reduces frame time for heavy scenes and introduces a new memory advisory API so engines can tune asset streaming behavior for spatial contexts. Apple emphasized end-to-end pipelines for creators, from prototyping on iPad to deployment on Vision Pro.

Designers should expect changes to spatial UI patterns: Apple provided updated Human Interface Guidelines for shared spaces, including rules for anchoring cross-user content and handling occlusion and audio localization in collaborative sessions.
