visionOS 2.1 adds collaborative windows and cross-device continuity for spatial apps

With visionOS 2.1 Apple is expanding multi-user and continuity features, enabling shared windows that multiple users can see and manipulate in the same spatial session. Developers can now mark windows as shared or private and control replication and conflict resolution behavior via an updated SpatialKit API.

Cross-device continuity lets visionOS apps hand off work to iPad and Mac with live state sync, including layered canvases and 3D scene state. This makes it easier to begin design work in spatial mode and refine it on a traditional display, or vice versa, maintaining edit history and layer fidelity.

Apple also added performance optimizations for rendering persistent scene elements and new privacy controls for session sharing. Early partners in design and AR prototyping say the changes lower friction for collaborative workshops and hybrid remote sessions where participants use different devices.
