visionOS 2.2 introduces spatial AI and cross-device continuity for Vision Pro

visionOS 2.2 focuses on making spatial experiences smarter without compromising privacy. Apple introduced spatial AI primitives—on-device object labeling, semantic scene understanding, and adaptive occlusion—so apps can anchor content more reliably in physical spaces and respond to object changes in real time.
Developers can now use persistent spatial anchors that sync across a user’s Apple devices (with permission), enabling seamless transitions from iPhone to Vision Pro and back. Apple also added APIs for shared anchors so multiple users in proximity can collaborate on the same spatial content with low-latency updates.
For creatives and game studios, the update exposes improved GPU-backed rendering hooks and frame-pacing controls to reduce motion sickness and improve immersion. Apple emphasized privacy: spatial maps and anchor data are encrypted and tethered to user accounts, and local inferencing is preferred where possible.
