VoltGrid launches modular home battery with 250 kW peak for multi-unit buildings

VoltGrid’s new product, the V250 Modular Battery Rack, is designed to be installed in basements or mechanical rooms and stacked to support multi-unit dwellings or small commercial loads. Each module is rated for 250 kW peak discharge and 1.2 MWh of usable capacity when combined in a 5-module cabinet.
The company also launched a control platform that interfaces with building management systems and utility demand-response programs. Software features include tenant-level energy allocation, time-of-use optimization, and a safety suite that automates thermal management and fault isolation.
VoltGrid will use the $45 million Series A to expand its factory in Ohio, certify the product in key markets, and pilot installations with three national property management firms. Executives framed the move as solving a gap between residential home batteries and utility-scale systems for dense urban housing.
