Zeplin and Cohere partner to auto-generate design tokens from product copy and intents

Zeplin announced a partnership with Cohere to add an AI layer that translates product copy, acceptance criteria, and user stories into recommended design tokens and component naming conventions. The tool scans project descriptions and suggests token granularity, naming patterns, and spacing scales aligned to the copy’s intent.
The integration uses a Cohere model to extract semantics and map them to token types such as color, spacing, and typography. Teams can accept suggestions into their Zeplin style guides or tweak rules and re-run the analysis for consistent updates.
Zeplin says this reduces friction between product writing and design implementation by automatically surfacing candidate tokens during handoff. The feature will be available as an add-on for Zeplin Enterprise customers in August.
