Zoom's AI meeting features create artifacts — summaries, action items, searchable transcripts — that are valuable but also risky in terms of accuracy and context. The product integrates these outputs into the meeting lifecycle with clear provenance labels, options to edit or redact, and retention settings that surface user control over generated content.

We tested the summary flow end-to-end to see how users discover, validate, and repurpose AI outputs. Effective designs require easy toggles for human review, in-place editing of AI suggestions, and links back to the original transcript timestamp. These affordances make generated content actionable and reduce the cognitive burden of validation.

Designers building AI note-taking features should prioritize traceability, user-led correction, and explicit opt-in for sensitive recordings. Zoom's approach shows that useful AI integrations are those that treat generated content as first drafts, not final authority.
